Overview[]

The Automated Commercial System (ACS) was a comprehensive system used by the U.S. Customs Service to track, control, and process all commercial goods imported into the United States. ACS was one of the world's most sophisticated and integrated large-scale business-oriented systems. Through the use of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), ACS facilitated merchandise processing, significantly cut costs, and reduced paperwork requirements for both Customs and the importing community.

The ACS system has been replaced by the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE).
