Since 1988 the CERT Division (originally the "CERT Coordination Center") of the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) has been a leader in cybersecurity. Initially focused on incident response handling, it has expanded into areas such as network situational awareness, malicious code analysis, secure coding, resilience management, insider threat, digital investigations and intelligence, and workforce development.
