Radio[]

The carrier is

[a]n electromagnetic wave, such as radio, with modulations that are used as signals to transmit information.[1]

Storage media[]

A carrier is

the physical component of an analog recording, e.g., 1/4-inch magnetic tape, vinyl disc, compact disc, hard drive, etc.[2]

Overview (Radio)[]

Information to be sent is impressed onto the carrier, which then carries the signal to its destination. At the receiver the carrier is filtered out, allowing the original message to be recovered.
