The Center for Computer/Law was established in 1978 at a 503(c) non-profit, educational and research institute. It was the first research institute to focus solely on the study of the development of computer law. The Center maintained an extensive research library that was used by researchers from the U.S., Japan, Finland, and the U.K.

The Center published two, quarterly law reviews:

  1. Computer/Law Journal
  2. Software Law Journal

The Center also hosted two international, computer law conferences:

  1. World Computer Law Congress 1991 in Los Angeles, California
  2. World Computer Law Congress 1993 in San Diego, California
