Overview[]
This report sets forth the findings of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) on the communications requirements of electric utilities and proposes specific recommendations for next steps to support these requirements. The report reviews the projected requirements of various components of the Smart Grid. This report recommends that to improve overall coordination, utilities and other Smart Grid constituents should be represented on key federal industry committees that address communications- and network-related security and reliability issues.
