Noun. A copy is

[a]n accurate reproduction of information contained on an original physical item, independent of the electronic storage device (e.g., logical file copy). Maintains contents, but attributes may change during the reproduction.[1]

Verb. To copy is

[t]o replicate data in another location while maintaining it in its original location.[2]
