A flame is an e-mail or Usenet message in which the writer attacks another person on overly harsh, and often personal, terms. A flame is intended to insult, provoke or rebuke another user.

Malware[]

The Flame virus is

malicious software discovered in 2012 that attacks computers running the Microsoft Windows operating system. The program is being used for targeted cyber espionage in Middle Eastern countries.[1]

"Part of the functionality of the virus including turning on microphones of computers to secretly record conversations, taking screen grabs of infected computers and stealing credentials of high-level and administrative users."[2]
