Overview[]

The U.K. Information Society Initiative (ISI), launched in February 1996, was the DTI’s response to an identified need to provide a coherent package of support in the Information Society domain. It was designed to enable both user and supplier industries to take maximum advantage of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). This evaluation covers ISI activities up to March 2000. The ISI was therefore an umbrella for a large number of ICT activities and programs. Between 1996 and 2000 there were 26 component activities/programs within the first phase of the ISI.
