To install software or data means to load the files containing the software or data onto the target computer.'

installation is

[t]he phase in the system life cycle that includes assembly and testing of the hardware and software of a computerized system. Installation includes installing a new computer system, new software or hardware, or otherwise modifying the current system.[1]
