Definition[edit | edit source]
The Intelligent Vehicle Highway System (IVHS) is
|“||an intelligent transportation system, in which vehicles and highways will exchange information through a two-way communication system. The automated highways will have a set of lanes on which vehicles with specialized sensors and wireless communications systems could travel under computer control at closely spaced intervals. . . . The vehicles could continuously exchange information with other vehicles and traffic-control centers about speed, acceleration, braking, obstacles, road conditions, etc. Sensor data can be processed and sent back to each vehicle guaranteeing a continuous exchange of information.||”|
