Current members of the IA include: Amazon, AOL, AT&T, Comcast, DMA, eHarmony, Expedia, Experian, IAC, Intuit, Match.com, Omniture, Orbitz, Overstock, Scholastic, Truste, United Online, VeriSign, and Yahoo!

The IA’s mission is to promote confidence and trust in the Internet so it can reach its potential as the most dynamic market medium of this century. The IA advocates for the Internet industry and e-commerce on issues important to consumers and businesses.

The IA develops consistent and strategic core messages in policy areas affecting consumers and businesses’ bottom line. These core areas include:

  1. Consumer privacy
  2. Social networking
  3. Online dating
  4. Targeted advertising
  5. Internet taxation
  6. Data security breach/Financial privacy
  7. Online ticket resale
  8. Internet crimes
