The Joint Committee on Inter-Society Coordination (JCIC) is a group consisting of the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA), the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB, the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA), and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE). The JCIC created the ATSC in 1982 to help develop all of the new advances in television, including HDTV.
