Expert system[edit | edit source]

The knowledge base contains both factual and heuristic knowledge:

  1. Factual knowledge consists of items commonly agreed upon by spokesmen in a particular field.
  2. Heuristic knowledge is the less rigorous, more experiential and more judgmental knowledge of performance or what commonly constitutes the rules of "good judgment" or the art of "good guessing" in a field.[1]

General[edit | edit source]

A knowledge base is

a set of information, incorporated by a person or system, that allows that person or system to understand received information.[2]
