Overview[]
These regulations implement certain provisions of the Semiconductor Chip Protection Act of 1984. The Act established a registration system for mask works to be administered by the Copyright Office and authorized the Copyright Office to establish regulations in several cases, including the registration of claims of protection in mask works, the recordation in the Copyright Office of documents pertaining to mask works and the mask work notice. Part 211 of 57 CFR Chapter II sets forth specific requirements for filing applications for registration of mask work claim and the mask work notice.
