Cryptography[edit | edit source]

Message Authentication Code protection (MAC protection) is a short piece of information used to authenticate a message. The MAC value protects data integrity and authenticity of the tagged message by allowing verifiers (who also possess the secret key used to generate the value) to detect any changes to the message content.
