Overview[]

The mission of the National Protection and Programs Directorate, within the Department of Homeland Security, was to advance the Department's risk-reduction mission. It serves as the lead for protecting and enhancing the resilience of the U.S.'s physical and cyber infrastructure.

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Act of 2018 renamed NPPD the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and established a Director and responsibilities for the agency.
