Definition[]

A Physical Access Control System (PACS) is

[a]n automated system that manages the passage of people or assets through an opening(s) in a secure perimeter(s) based on a set of authorization rules.[1]
Cyber Assets that control, alert, or log access to the Physical Security Perimeter(s), exclusive of locally mounted hardware or devices at the Physical Security Perimeter such as motion sensors, electronic lock control mechanisms, and badge readers.[2]
