Safety is "the ability of a system to operate without causing an accident or unacceptable loss."[1]

Safety is

[t]he condition of being protected against physical, social, spiritual, financial, political, emotional, occupational, psychological, educational or other types or consequences of failure, damage, error, accidents, harm or any other event which could be considered non-desirable.[2]

Safety means that

the probable benefits to health for its intended use when accompanied by adequate directions and warnings against unsafe use, outweigh any probable risks.[4]
