Definition[]

A user profile is

[p]atterns of a user's activity that can be used to detect changes in normal routines.[1]

Overview[]

This information can be exploited by systems taking into account the persons' characteristics and preferences. User profiles can be found on operating systems, computer programs, or dynamic websites (such as a social networking site or a bulletin board).
