Hi, welcome to The IT Law Wiki! Thanks for your edit to the File:Reconceptualizing Security (Bruce Schneier - TEDxPSU 10 21 2010) page.
Thanks for your message. To date we have had a prohibition on linking to external videos. There are several reasons for that:
- 1. While TED videos are obviously vetted by the TED organization before being posted, most videos are not vetted by anyone. We do not believe that we can allow such links without reviewing the video to determine whether it is appropriate. And frankly we don't have the time to do so.
- 2. We have found that many videos are edited from what they purport to be and start out as a legitimate video and then have inappropriate content (spam, pornography) edited into them.
- 3. Virtually all videos that have been posted to the site have been promotional in nature. While presented as an educational/instructional video, they actual promote the speaker or his/her organization. We do not allow promotional materials on the site.
- 4. Most videos take a particular position and do not take a neutral position, which we require of our content.
I have placed an item on our next admin meeting on this issue.
